The wild, untamed beauty and bounty of Flinders Island has captured the imaginations of some of Australia’s finest chefs and will be inspiring them to create entirely unique dishes for your enjoyment at the Festival’s long lunch. Join Kerrie McCallum, Editor in Chief of delicious. along with guest chefs David Moyle (Longsong, Melbourne), Mark LaBrooy (Three Blue Ducks, Sydney and Byron Bay), James Viles (Biota, Bowral), Jo Barrett (Oakridge Winery, Yarra Valley), Matt Stone (Oakridge Winery, Yarra Valley), Vladimir Panevin (Ettie’s, Hobart) and Analiese Gregory (Franklin, Hobart).
We won’t be revealing the location until the day before, but rest assured you’ll be experiencing Flinders Island in its most elemental state. The six-course lunch, with beverages matched by sommelier Alice Chugg (Ettie’s, Hobart), will embrace local ingredients - farmed, hunted and foraged - as well as island cooking methods. Bespoke furniture has been created for the event by the Flinders Island Men’s Shed.
The raw beauty of Flinders Island will be taking centre stage at this event with chefs and organisers working with the elements, not against them. Wear comfortable shoes (leave the high heels on the mainland) and dress for weather that can change by the hour, not the season. Prepare to experience the food of Flinders Island at its finest, in an environment that will take your breath away. In addition, you’ll have the opportunity to hear from the chefs about their experience of the island and what inspiration they’ll be taking home with them in an after-lunch Q&A session hosted by Kerrie McCallum of delicious.
